 Our History in Wisconsin

BRIDGES Healthy Cooking School acted as a broad-based community initiative opening its doors to the public on May 2, 2005 in Appleton, WI.  BRIDGES was passionately committed to making its programming available to the low to moderate income earners and those existing service organizations and non-profits already serving these underprivileged members in that community.

From January 2005 to June 2006, BRIDGES held 156 classes for 2097 students at our 3,000 sq-foot, Fox Valley facility.  The customer repeat rate for on-site classes was 74%, with the total number of face-to-face interactions between Chef Emily and members of the Fox Valley community via classes, lectures, speaking engagements, and cooking demonstrations totaling over 8,200, greater than one-tenth of the population of Appleton.  Additionally, BRIDGES created comprehensive Community Wellness Skills Education, teaching over 1,000 different specialized cooking classes, demonstrations, lectures, and presentations.

Our History in Connecticut

BRIDGES Healthy Cooking School relocated in to Connecticut in 2008.  Robinson & Cole, LLP acted as our legal representation to file and obtain our Certificate of Authority and our Certificate of Foreign Qualification from the State of Connecticut to complete this move.

This Certificate of Foreign Qualification allows BRIDGES to legally conduct business within the state of Connecticut as its principle state without having to re-file for a new nonprofit status with the Federal Government.  Our Certificate of Authority allows us to conduct business in Connecticut even though BRIDGES as a 501c3 is considered domestic to Wisconsin where it was formed, and where we no longer conduct business.
